Not today (production began in May) but nonetheless 40 this year.

In trivia news, there was a Ghia model which was appropriate because it was styled by Ghia.

The first models had a choice of 957cc (40 or 44 bhp or a 1117cc (52-55 bhp depending on model) engines which could trace their origins back to the 1950s Anglia.. Four manual gears and you did everything yourself, including the choke. Not a lot of go then, but as it weighed about as much as a packet of crisps that wasn’t as much of a problem as you might think.

The first gen Fiesta is awesome. And we actually got it over here too! We only got the original Fiesta, and the current generation from 2011.

My cousin had one of those. When her other car packed in, her and my uncle went to the local breakers yard to see what he had to get her about for a while. A metallic gold Mk1 was sat there, started right up and she just kept it. Great little car, hardly anything to go wrong.
